In honor of Women’s History Month i’m talking feminism from the perspective of a woman of color. Let’s face it, the face of feminism is White. Yes, as women we all face some form of inequality and oppression. Yet the things a straight white wealthy woman faces aren’t the same as an LGBT, lower income woman of color. The intersectionality that make up who we are can put women at an even greater disadvantage. The voices of women of color and trans women are often overshadowed or silenced by white feminists. During this show i’ll be talking to Sasha Perez a Chicana feminist and political activist who dispels some myths surrounding feminism and the importance of intersectional feminism.
